Life in Mumbai
I have been off the blog scene for quiet a while and this madrasi's life continues in our very own mumbai. Mumbai - the land of the rich and famous, bollywood's home and also the financial hub of India. Mumbai's life is nothing different from that of chennai - people slog throughout the week and get to party and relax over the weekend. I am one among the lucky fellas who gets saturdays off - so no complaining.
My daily routine is to take the auto from the guest house and then head to the company. It generally takes 15 minutes commuting but boy if it's a monday it can be anywhere between 30 and 45 minutes. In your initial days in the city you'll definitely feel it is crowded to the core. I am slowly making friends and also have started visiting places. My friend took me to fashion street and marine drive a couple of weeks back. I am actually in Bombay after some 15 or 16 years and had visited Marine drive then and now, definitely could see some changes - a well built road, restaurants and hangouts close by and our cool people of Mumbai hanging around. A nice thing about the visit was that I finally managed to eat Vada pau finally fulfilling one of my long held wish. One striking fact that I have to share about Mumbai is about the autowallahs - they are outright honest. Coming from chennai where the autodrivers try to rip you off, I would say it's quiet a change in Mumbai - these people out here go by the metre be it whatever part of the day. It just gives you a nice feeling when you realize that there are people in this world who are not greedy about money. In the coming days would be exploring more places and maybe might get to write something on that. From singara chennai to cardiff and now to mumbai, the journey continues.
