Spelling Bee

While I was surfing through the TV channels on a Saturday morning,I ended up with this program on the ESPN channel - National Spelling Bee competion. It was a very interesting one to watch where kids from the age between 9 and 12 were competing for a spelling competition.
This event has been a become a big rage among the people in the US and the UK. Though I've heard loads about it through the newspapers and the internet, didn't get to watch it till the other day.
This competition would definitely put to shame most of us who bet on our English language skills. The way the whole event is staged definitely deserves a kudos.
One by one kids arrive and stand before a mic and they are given a word to spell. They can pose questions like: what's the origin of the word, the etymology, definition etc.
Some of the children were simply superb and the confidence with which they would spell the word just makes you excited.
My favourite kid was Samir Patel from Texas - it was disappointing that he couldn't make it to the last round but neverthless managed to cast a spell on the audience with his spelling abilities.
Guyz and gals, do watch this programme if u a get a chance and I am sure you'll be bowled over by these amazing children.
