Madrasi now back in the UK

Just vanished out of the blogging scene for a while for various reasons and glad to be back.
Life takes you through various twists and turns and you land yourself at the crossroads thinking how you've arrived here.
Fortunately I knew how my career was taking shape and had control over my life and so it was indeed a conscious decision to come back to the UK.
The only change that happened was marriage.
Back to the IT scene in the UK and things look exciting with this phase of life.
This Madrasi's journey continues in Buckinghamshire, just an hour away from the so called financial capital of the world.

Spelling Bee

While I was surfing through the TV channels on a Saturday morning,I ended up with this program on the ESPN channel - National Spelling Bee competion. It was a very interesting one to watch where kids from the age between 9 and 12 were competing for a spelling competition.
This event has been a become a big rage among the people in the US and the UK. Though I've heard loads about it through the newspapers and the internet, didn't get to watch it till the other day.
This competition would definitely put to shame most of us who bet on our English language skills. The way the whole event is staged definitely deserves a kudos.
One by one kids arrive and stand before a mic and they are given a word to spell. They can pose questions like: what's the origin of the word, the etymology, definition etc.
Some of the children were simply superb and the confidence with which they would spell the word just makes you excited.
My favourite kid was Samir Patel from Texas - it was disappointing that he couldn't make it to the last round but neverthless managed to cast a spell on the audience with his spelling abilities.
Guyz and gals, do watch this programme if u a get a chance and I am sure you'll be bowled over by these amazing children.

Forsyth again!

I wish I could lay my hands on this one next. On a honest note, haven't caught up with a novel in a long time. But when it's an offering from Frederick Forsyth, nah doesn't figure in my dictionary.

Seven Year old wonder boy!

Miracles keep happenning around the world - check out this one. I am actually relating to you about a seven year old kid who indulged in something that many wouldn't dare to do at such an age. In fact donned the role of a surgeon - can you believe it. A medical whiz kid in the making.

There are many programmes on this waiting to be aired. Anyways check this five tv series to know more about this wonder boy.

FIFA World cup.....

It is back - I mean the FIFA World Cup fever. Just can't stop jabbering about it. I would personally opt for Brazil or England to win the ultimate battle. Already the hosts - Germany have revealed their intentions with a splendid performance. So how are the other teams geared up - let's wait and watch.

Greatest one day cricket match in history....

The match between Australia and South Africa at Johannesburg on March the 12th 2006. It was a history of sorts in the making - Australia scoring the highest ever one day international score of 434 and the host bettering that by winning the game and taking their total to 438.

Anyone who have missed this spectacle have really missed one helluva of a cricket match ever played in the history of cricket. With just a year to go for the world cup to be played in the Caribbean, are the Indians geared up for the challenge to meet these two excellent teams.....we'll have to wait and watch.

Aashayen aashayen....

Ooo wow....what a movie I was treated to over the weekend - Iqbal. It's a movie about a deaf and dumb guy from a small village aspiring to find a place in the Indian cricket team and his interest lies in bowling.
Nothing new can be told about Nagesh Kukunoor - he has already proved his worth in movies like Hyderabad Blues, Rockford and Teen Deewaren. With this flick, he delivers the right mix needed to hit the bullseye.
The lead role played by Shreyas Talpade does a wonderful job and of course the classic actor Naseerudin Shah as the coach does a class act once again. Even the other actors have given a subdued and neat performance.
Everyone likes to see the underdog win and that's what is so brilliantly conveyed in Iqbal. With determination like steel and the desire to achieve what he is set out for, everyone watching Iqbal wants him to be the winner.
Deep inside, everyone is like Iqbal and are set out to accomplish some goal or the other in life. All that matters is just how much we can devote ourselves to our goals and how we progress with our lives all along.
