Anniyan thoughts

This post is not going to be a full fledged review on any particular movie rather just going to be my own individual thoughts on the recent movies I've watched. First of all I'd start off with Anniyan which has been declared a superhit already. Shankar with his usual mega style delivers a quality one but yet you can't throw away the thoughts of his earlier movies while watching this one. Shankar and A R Rahman combination has worked wonders in the past and in this flick Harris Jeyaraj doesn't disappoint. Vikram has delivered a different and a commendable performance and this one again goes to prove that a quality director is always required to tune an actor's finesse. Vivek as usual has created a few laugh ripples. Sada is adequate as the heroine. One another performance, you can't fail to notice is that of Prakash Raj. The man goes from strength to strength with each passing movie. Notwithstanding the mutiple personality disorder story having already dealt by P.Vasu in Chandramukhi, Anniyan never fails to entertain. After a mediocre success with Boys, Shankar sure has learnt his lesson and treaded his usual path i.e. of a one man taking up a cause and fighting against the state/system. Movies like these might not have an immediate and huge impact but whatever good that can be got out if it is welcome. On the downside, this one reminds about Indian and other flicks. The next movie I'd be interested to watch would be Mangal Pandey - The Rising. It has raised a lot of expectations especially after the fact that Aamir Khan is going to be seen on screen after a gap of four years. Can't wait to watch that.
