The living indian film encyclopedia

What can I tell about this personality - just when everyone tries to write him off he bounces back and rises like a phoenix from the ashes. The person I am trying to portray here is none other than our very own living film institution Kamalhaasan. Variety is the spice of life - everyone would agree but with this man would define it as the vital essence of life. Versatile in most of the departments of film making, he's truly an intelligent being. We have to thank K.Balachander for introducing this icon to the film world. The reason for me to write is because I read an interesting article on Kamal and thought I would share this here. Here it is...
The biggest challenge of 21st Century is AIDS. It is spreading all over the world. The amount of money spent on creating awareness about AIDS and also research for finding the medicine, is mind-boggling. It is more frightening than the death that occurs due to AIDS. If this money can be spent on third world countries advancement, it would help those countries to cross many hurdles in their economies. The English actor Richard Griff is like our own Kamalhasan in the matters of taking interest about what is happening in the society. He is a social activist who is trying to create awareness about AIDS among public. He seemed to know about Kamalhasan and the social welfare activities that are being undertaken by his welfare Association. So Griff had thought the Kamalhasan may be the person whom he has been searching for.

He contacted Kamal and asked him to help in his effort of creating awareness about AIDS among public. Kamal didn't hesitate to agree. His fan club is creating record of sorts in donating blood. The same 'Mandram' is going to start the work of creating awareness about AIDS among public.
Yesterday, the Cosmopolitan club had arranged a meet to felicitate Kamal. He was given the memento on this occasion. Kamal had answered the questions from the club members in his intimate style. When asked whether he would act in the role of Thiruvalluvar. He said, there are many questions being raised about his background, whether he is a Christian or a Jain. So, there is confusion in portraying him. He went on to add the reasons along with this. The depth of his knowledge had surprised everybody. When asked about 'Oscar' there are people in the film field who would answer I will buy that car very soon, in this kind of prevailing situation Kamalhasan is indeed a University.
